Red Sorrel

The fields are filled with Red Sorrel

An herbaceous perennial with arrow-shaped, sour-tasting leaves.
In the Buckwheat family Polygonaceae

Grandmother would mix the leaves into salads.
They have a lemony, tangy or nicely tart flavor.
The word 'sorrel' derives from the French, 'sur' meaning sour.

What a beautiful "weed"!
